What is the RAMM?
BPM+ Health works to foster organizations’ capabilities and abilities to operate consistently with the industry's best practices. The Readiness Assessment and Maturity Model was created to objectively assess how able an institution is positioned to embrace process change, and how to address shortcomings. It is a tool that provides a framework devised from the 5-level maturity model construct. The RAMM drives transformation to adopt clinical pathways, proven workflows, and best practices.
It has been constructed with the idea of evolving an organization towards its desired capabilities. This model identifies key-critical path measures that allows for an objective evaluation of an organization and its ability to embrace change.
Figure 1. Readiness Assessment Maturity Model
The levels used in the model, from 1 to 5, define the ability of an organization to how close they are to becoming a “learning health system” considering 7 discipline areas, including:
Institutional Standards, Guidelines & Policies
Guidelines must be accurately and easily changed to include new best practices with a concentration on quality, consistency, and efficiency.
An organization also needs to advocate for identifying and evaluating innovative adoption techniques.
Stakeholder Management
Innovative practices must be used when stakeholder involvement methods do not meet objectives.
Self-organizing communities of practice need to meet consistently to inform a learning health system.
Adoption Processes
Successful innovative adoption processes must be discovered and promoted to further the impact of adoption.
Enhance the use of tools, training, and system improvements to improve adoption success, organizational trust, and accountability.
Privacy, Security and Confidentiality
Innovative practices like machine learning and advanced analytics must be used to detect security threats.
Proactive methods in place to identify future vulnerabilities with pathway adoption.
Skills and Expertise
Discover, analyze, and if effective, implement innovative practices to enhance training and ability to welcome change in an organization.
Acknowledgement of the necessity to create and support technical and clinical skill set changes to meet the demands of medical practice advances.
Knowledge Assets, Tools, and Automation
Real application of human-centered design principles to identify and advance gaps in institutional knowledge and tooling.
Maturity levels for monitoring, assessment, and knowledge present centered on applied use and results.
Goals and Measurement
A regular examination of procedures in impacting goals combined with consistent rearrangement of processes to improve results.
Analyzing KPIs and measures to better performance and outcomes.
For each category, 5 levels exist in the RAMM to measure from level 1, inconsistent, to level 5, a learning health system. Use the RAMM to determine what level your organization falls under to identify opportunities for improvement.
The RAMM does not measure the maturity of your organization’s clinical practice. Instead, it evaluates the maturity of your organization’s ability to adopt clinical guidelines. Transform your organization’s proven workflows, clinical pathways and best practices by using the RAMM to measure your current level of maturity.
